About this service
The Lord Jesus Is Faithful, and in Mercy He Raises You Up from Death to Life
The Lord is faithful. His steadfast love never ceases, and “his mercies never come to an end” (Lam. 3:22–23). To keep us in repentance and to make our faith grow, He causes grief for a while, but He does not cast off forever; in due time, “he will have compassion” (Lam. 3:31–33). Therefore, “hope in him,” and “wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord,” for “the Lord is good to those who wait for him” (Lam. 3:24–26). That is what the woman did who had “a discharge of blood,” and also the ruler whose daughter was “at the point of death.” Each waited on the mercy of the Lord Jesus, and each received His saving help (Mark 5:21–28). The woman had suffered much for 12 years, and the ruler’s daughter had already died before Jesus arrived. Yet at the right time, the woman was immediately “healed of her disease,” and the little girl “got up and began walking” (Mark 5:29, 42). Such is “the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,” who humbled Himself unto the extreme poverty of death “so that you by his poverty might become rich,” even unto life everlasting (2 Cor. 8:9).

Prayers of the Church
Prayers of the Church for June 30, 2024 — Responsive Form
Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.
O Lord, from whom our help comes, You have brought us into Your Holy Christian Church and made Christ our shield from every enemy. Preserve us in such faith until at last You bring us out of this world in the resurrection forevermore. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Holy Father, You have shown to Your Church the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, who for our sakes became poor that by His poverty we might become rich. Give us generous hearts, that our abundance may supply our fellow saints in their need. Let our preachers serve for the sake of Christ’s call, not for earthly gain; and let those who have received excellence in faith, speech, knowledge and every other gift of God’s Word provide richly for the preaching of the Gospel and the work of the Church. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Gracious Lord, Your compassion does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men, but Your mercies are new every morning. Bestow Your steadfast love on every Christian home. Turn parents in kindness to their children; make children ready in obedience and love toward their parents and each other. Let the young learn discipline and trust in You, and let fathers not exasperate their children, but be devoted to the fear and instruction of the Lord as examples to them. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
O Lord, You did not turn aside the bold request of Jairus nor the timid faith of the woman. We implore You, hear our prayers for those in need. Drive away our fears and give us believing faith. Give healing and strength to the sick and suffering [especially _____________]. Give comfort to those who mourn [especially _____________] in the knowledge that Christ has destroyed death and all who die in Him are only sleeping until You awaken them at the Last Day. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Heavenly Father, Your Son used His divine powers as a man on earth to heal and save. We thank You that He continues to use His divine powers as a man, bodily present in the Holy Sacrament, to deliver His healing and saving power to faith. Grant that we may worthily seek this medicine of immortality in the Lord’s Supper, believing His promises and receiving them now and in eternity. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
O Lord, heavenly Father, we gratefully remember the sufferings and death of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Rejoicing in His victorious resurrection from the dead, we draw strength from His ascension before You, where He ever stands for us as our own High Priest. Gather us together from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers, deliver and preserve us, for to You alone we give all glory, honor and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Prayers of the Church for June 30, 2024 — Ektene Form
In peace, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
To the Lord from whom our help comes, that as He has brought us into the Holy Christian Church and made Christ our shield from every enemy, so He would preserve us in such faith until at last He brings us out of this world into resurrection forevermore, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For the Church, that God would give us generous hearts to supply the saints from our abundance, seeing that Christ has made us rich by His humble poverty; for our preachers, that they may serve for the sake of Christ’s call, not earthly gain; and for all Christians who have received excellence in faith, speech, knowledge and every gift of God’s Word, that they may provide richly for the preaching of the Gospel and the work of the Church, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For every Christian home, that our gracious Lord would bestow on them His never-ending compassion; that He would turn parents in kindness to their children; that He would make children ready in obedience and love toward their parents and each other; for the young, that they would learn discipline and trust in God; and for fathers, that they would not exasperate their children, but be examples of devotion to the fear and instruction of the Lord, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For those in need, that as God did not turn aside the bold request of Jairus nor the timid faith of the woman, so He would drive away our fears and give us believing faith; for the sick and suffering [especially _____________]; and for those who mourn, [especially _____________,] that they would know and believe Christ will awaken the dead on the Last Day as if from a mere sleep, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For all who commune, that they may seek worthily the medicine of immortality given in the Lord’s Supper, believing that as Christ on earth always used His divine powers as a man to heal and save, so here in the blessed Sacrament He is bodily present to deliver His healing and saving power to faith, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
Amen.
